Within the aims, purposes and values of the World Association of Speech Therapists we include:

• Promote, stimulate and coordinate training activities in speech therapy
  
• Study and investigation are the pillars which contribute to the transference of knowledge, in this way helping speech therapists in their professional performance and assuring a professional approach to people who need that help.
• Organization of congresses, seminars, courses and meetings for the training of speech therapists
• The carrying out of all types of studies concerning speech therapy.
• To promote the union and collaboration of speech therapists on topics of communal interest.
• To promote and develop the exchange of experiences between speech therapists on a global basis.
• To vouch for and coordinate training centres and colleges, public or private, all over the world, which are developing training programmes that offer a constant high standard of education for professionals.
